Union City’s Washington School Celebrates Black History Month

Black History Month was celebrated at Union City’s Washington School on Tuesday morning with a breakfast celebration and approximately 100 parents on hand.

Students decorated the gymnasium with art work featuring important African-Americans in United States’ history.  All of the grades participated.  There was singing by the students, as well as the reading of important facts on many, many prominent Black Americans.

The Union City Board of Education stress the importance of diversity among its student population and understanding why these differences should be embraced by all.
