Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports this morning that, due to an active and ongoing police investigation by the Detective Bureau, he will only confirm that officers responded to Stephen Gregg County Park last night at approximately 8:15 on a report of a male being shot. Amato says the victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
No arrest has been made as of 10:30 this morning.
Last night, a social media post on Facebook reported that the victim as 24 years old. It also stated that the suspect was a black male with dred locks who fled the scene in a dark gray, Honda CRV. The Facebook post indicated that the shooting took place in the lower level of the county park, south of the three flag poles near the basketball courts. This information has not been confirmed by the police at this time.
