North Bergen Expands Vaccine, Testing Availability During Omicron Surge

Township offers new pop-up testing centers, extended hours, holiday weekend availability at multiple sites

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners are announcing a significant expansion of the Township of North Bergen’s COVID-19 vaccination and testing capabilities as the country grapples with the Omicron variant surge. The offerings include two new pop-up testing centers including one that is open today, a new vaccine site, mask mandate in public buildings, and public outreach communications urging residents to get vaccinated and boosted and to wear masks when indoors.

“Cases are currently surging across the country and North Bergen is no different, so we want to make sure we are offering our residents the support they need to get through this difficult time and protect themselves and their families,” said Mayor Sacco. “The most important thing we can all do right now is get vaccinated, or if you are already vaccinated get your booster shot to make sure you have the best possible protection from the virus.”

North Bergen’s expanded COVID-19 offerings include: 

  • Pop-up Testing Site on Thursday, December 30 from 2 – 7 p.m. at Kennedy School, 1210 11th Street.

  • Two Pop-up Testing Sites on Sunday, January 2 from 11 a.m. — 7 p.m. at:

    • North Bergen Parking Authority/Municipal Court Building Parking Lot, 4225 Bergen Turnpike

    • Franklin School, 5211 Columbia Avenue

  • New vaccine site in Braddock Park boathouse, open Sunday – Tuesday from 2 – 7 p.m.

  • Extended hours at the Braddock Park testing center (walk-in or drive-thru), now open Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday 12 – 8 p.m.

  • Holiday schedule for vaccination center at 9243 Kennedy Boulevard:

    • Thursday, Dec. 30: 2 – 7 p.m.

    • Friday, Dec. 31: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

    • Saturday, Jan. 1: closed

    • Sunday, Jan. 2: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (added date for the holiday weekend)

  •  Mask requirement in all public buildings, strongly urging residents to wear a mask in all indoor venues as well
