Bayonne firefighters successfully extinguished a residential fire this afternoon. According to Deputy Fire Chief Bill Bartos, the fire was contained to one alarm.
Bartos said in a statement, “At 3:57pm, Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to 43 East 44th Street on a report of fire. Arriving companies found fire on an outside deck area of the three-story home. Firefighters used a hand line to extinguish the blaze, which was declared under control at 4:09pm. No injuries were reported. An investigation is underway to determine the cause.”

Bartos thanked the firefighters for “their rapid response and skilled actions at this fire. Due to their efforts, they prevented this fire from extending to the interior of the structure, and kept property damage to a minimum.”
