The Hudson County Administration Building, located at 595 Newark Avenue in Jersey City, is currently on lockdown, as the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department S.W.A.T. team and K-9 Unit are searching for a person armed with a weapon.
According to a Sheriff’s Department spokesman with Vision Media, the Sheriff’s Department received a report at approximately 2:15 this afternoon stating someone may be inside the building carrying a weapon. Vision Media told Hudson TV that it is not known at this time whether that person was a man or a woman.
Hudson County spokesman Jim Kennelly told Hudson TV during a telephone interview that Bergen County authorities tipped off the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department as to the possibility that a woman may be inside the building with a weapon.
