Wake and funeral arrangements for H. Mickey McCabe, the founder of McCabe Ambulance in Bayonne, have been revealed.  McCabe, a beloved figure in the Peninsula City, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, after a long battle with lung disease.  Born in Bayonne, McCabe was a long-time resident of Bayonne and Monmouth Beach.  He was a devoted civil servant, who alongside his wife Judy, started McCabe Ambulance Company and operated the firm for more than a half century.  His service and devotion to the community were recognized in countless ways throughout the years by numerous organizations.

Bayonne Memorial Home, located at 854 Avenue C will conduct the funeral on Friday, June 23.   A funeral Mass will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11:00 a.m.   Visitation will be held at the funeral home today, Thursday, June 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Vehicular traffic will be restricted today north and south on Avenue C from 37th Street to 40th Street for viewing.  Vehicles will park as directed by police officers, as well as utilize the Horace Mann School parking lot.

Regarding Friday’s funeral mass, parking for all participants will be on Avenue C between 42nd Street and 45th Street and 49th Street and 52nd Street.  Vehicles will angle park.  All participants parking should approach on Avenue C, not on side streets.  All participants who wish to drop off passengers may utilize open side streets.

Officers and participants may also park at the Hudson County Park and walk to the church. If you plan to attend, you are asked to be within the security zone no later than 10 am.
