The township of Weehawken has announced the latest COVID vaccination statistics for the municipality, and local officials are thrilled with the numbers.
A press release from the township Council dated October 14, 2021 stated the following:
“Thanks to all of our efforts as a community, 82% of the Weehawken adult population has been fully vaccinated, and 92% has had at least one dose. Remarkably as per the New Jersey Department of health, 86% of Weehawken children aged 12-17 have been vaccinated. This is an excellent accomplishment by the entire Weehawken community working together. Special thanks to our Township Manager Giovanni Ahmad for implementing our vaccination program, our School Nurses, along with Weehawken EMS personnel, who volunteered to vaccinate our community, our Health Department, and the countless residents who assisted with our vaccination efforts.”
Weehawken reminds residents that testing is available Monday to Saturday at the Union City/Weehawken test site located on 36th Street between Bergenline Avenue and Kennedy Blvd. in Union City.
o Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays – Appointments not required first-come, first-serve basis 9 AM to 4 PM.
o Wednesdays and Saturdays – Appointments not required first-come, first serve basis 9 AM to 2 PM.
Weehawken is still vaccinating regularly on Thursdays; to register for a vaccine, you can call 201-319-6005 or https://northhudsonvax.us/weehawken
The Township is also offering Pfizer Boosters and Moderna Third doses for those individuals who qualify. Please visit our site for the updated criteria. Residents wishing to receive the Third Dose of Moderna should consult their doctor as well.
The Township continues to vaccinate children 12 and older with the Pfizer Vaccine (Minors must have parental/guardian consent). Minors can register at our website for an appointment on Thursdays. We periodically offer vaccinations clinics at Weehawken High School for children aged 12 and older; please check our site for those dates.
