The Weehawken Township Council honored the 2022-2023 Weehawken High School championship football squad during Wednesday night’s Council meeting at Town Hall. The team finished with 8 wins and only one loss, a two point defeat to Elmwood Park at home on September 23.
Four of Weehawken’s wins were by shutout, while the team allowed only allowed 6, 6, 7 and 12 points in their other victories. They outscored their opponents by a combined score of 278 to 52.
It was quite a turnaround for a program which only a few years back was, quite honestly, an embarrassment on the gridiron. Well, that can no longer be said.
The team won the Union Division of the NJIC, finishing 7-1 in the conference.
Weehawken is led by Coach Bill Campi.
