260 Thanksgiving meals were packaged and delivered this morning by Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, members of the Township Council, municipal employees and Peer Leadership students from Weehawken High School to residents in need.

The annual event was coordinated by Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, the Township Council and Township Manager Giovanni Ahmad.  Volunteers from many local, municipal departments and students from Weehawken High School’s PEER Leadership group.

The meals, which were donated by the Weehawken and You Civic Association and the Graycliff Caterers in Moonachie, which gave the Township a discounted price.

The meals consisted of turkey, gravy, soup, mashed potatoes, trimmings, cranberry sauce and desert.

Officials told Hudson TV that these meals, and their delivery, might in some cases, be the only interaction the recipients have during Thanksgiving Day.  They may not be able to spend time with family or friends, so the volunteers make sure they deliver the food with a smile.
