Weehawken abre los centros de asistencia para las solicitudes de FEMA

With President Joe Biden and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declaring Hudson County a Major Disaster region following the damage and flooding inflicted by Tropical Storm Ida, residents and businesses are now eligible to apply for federal dollars to help with repairs to their properties.

Residents can apply online with FEMA at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the application assistance telephone number at 1-800-621-3362.

If you owned medical supplies which were damaged, lost or ruined because of the storm, such as prosthetics or orthotics, you may be able to get replacements through Medicare.  Just call 1-800-633-4227.

In addition, the Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster assistance loans to New Jersey businesses and residents.  To apply or get more information, log onto https://www.sba.gov/article/2021/sep/07/sba-offers-disaster-assistance-businesses-residents-new-jersey-affected-remnants-hurricane-ida .

Weehawken residents needing assistance filling out the applications can get it.  The township has opened up assistance centers at the township library on 49 Hauxhurst Avenue and at the Weehawken Housing Authority, located at 525 Gregory Avenue.

The centers will be open between 5 pm and 9 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, September 13, 14 and 16; and on Saturday, September 18 between 10 am and 2 pm.
