West New York man arrested for Stealing Packages in Hoboken

On 01/21/20, at about 3:51 PM, Officer Anthony Olivera and Officer Frank Francolino responded to the area of a reported package theft. The caller gave a description of the actor and direction of flight. Officer Olivera and Officer Francolino stopped a male fitting the caller’s description in the area of 700 Harrison Street. While Officer Francolino and Officer Olivera were out with a suspect, Officer Fabian Quinones and Officer Connor Milne met up with the callers. The callers stated that they observed a male enter their residential building located in the area of 5th and Jefferson Street with two Shop Rite bags. They observed him crouch down near packages. They did not recognize him as a resident of the building, so they became suspicious. The male then exited the building and was seen walking westbound. He is then seen entering another residential building in the area of 5th and Madison Street. They observed the male crouched over while inside the building’s vestibule. The male exited and continued to walk westbound. The investigation led to the arrest of the male Officer Francolino and Officer Olivera had stopped. Officer Olivera and Officer Francolino placed him under arrest and transported him to headquarters.

This male was identified as Juan Ruiz 33 Y/O from West New York, NJ. Officer Fabian Quinones, Officer Connor Milne, and Det. Paul Quinn processed Ruiz. Ruiz was charged with Burglary, Burglar Tools, and Theft. Ruiz’s charges were placed on a warrant. Ruiz also had six warrants for his arrest.

Ruiz was transported to the Hudson County Jail.
