Through the end of August, the West New York Division of Recreation will host a basketball camp at the middle school gymnasium for all residents of the town ages 14 and up on weekdays from 6-7:30 PM.
“We started our first summer basketball evening program, so what you’ll see here is a league that was established for ages 14 and up [and then] a men’s league for ages… 18 and up,” said Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez. “Obviously, the last 15 months have been devastating for this community and everybody’s community, but we wanted to make sure that our youth and young men and women had something to do, especially during the summer in the evening hours, to… a road back to a new normal…”
“As many of you know, last year a lot of our recreation programs were on hold due to the catastrophe of the pandemic and this year we really wanted to get our programs back up and running for our residents, who really deserve it,” said Commissioner of Public Affairs Cosmo Cirillo.
Registration for the camp will remain open until its conclusion; to register, a parent or guardian must bring 2 forms of identification proving residency in West New York and the birth certificate or US passport of the participant to the Department of Recreation at West New York Town Hall.
