The Town of West New York postponed Tuesday’s free food giveaway. The new date ofr the distribution is this Thursday, March 16. The event will take place at 12 noon at the DPW Garage on 63rd Street between Broadway and Hudson Avenue.
The municipality has been holding these food distributions ever since the pandemic began. The federal program is operated through the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services.
The food drives take place every two weeks at different locations around the municipality. The town does not know what food will be given out until it arrives at the event. Generally, though, the variety is extensive, from canned vegetables, to fruits and potatoes, to rice and cereal.
The food is given out on a first come, first served basis.
