The Administration of West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez cut a ribbon Wednesday, opening the new, 52nd Street parking garage. The 8-story deck holds more than 500 cars for residents and Bergenline Avenue shoppers, replacing the 186 space lot previously on the site. The garage is located between Bergenline Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard on 52nd Street.
The garage will have spaces for permit parking for residents, as well as hourly, pay parking for shoppers and businesses on Bergenline Avenue. The cost remains the same as other parking lots and garages around the town, 20 minutes for 25 cents. Overnight residential permit parking is free.
The garage also features 12 electric vehicle charging stations. For now, reservations must be made with the West New York Parking Authority to use the charging stations. Executive Director Amiris Perez says that may change in the future. The project received approximately $750,000 in federal funding for security measures, such as cameras and lighting.
Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez says another garage will be constructed on 57th Street behind the former Modell’s where a surface lot exists. That lot was closed today. Groundbreaking for that structure is expected to take place by the end of this month. The Modell’s will house the town’s new library and media center.
It just great! I’m wondering about the traffic in this street it’s getting more crowded… it could be the longest line before the light, is this street gonna be to lines? Also the street it’s full of holes in and not light at all… how about the bump stop?
