WNY Drug Bust Nets Five Arrests

A four month investigation by the West New York Police Department has resulted in the arrests of five individuals, one of whom is allegedly involved in the illicit distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

The execution of a court-ordered search warrant on June 14th led to the arrests, without incident, of the following people:

• Alfredo Diaz, age 36, of West New York
• Fabian Herrera, age 33, of North Bergen
• Josue Perez, age 20, of West New York
• Jessica Reyes, age 33, Fairview
• Kenneth Salazar, age 49, of Union City                                                       .                                                                                                                                           The West New York Police say the investigation was part of an ongoing investigation begun by Detectives after receibing complaints from residents regarding alleged drug activity in the area of 61st Street and Tyler Place.

Mayor Albio Sires stated, “We commend the diligent work of our detectives and officers, as well as the collaboration with the Hudson County Regioal SWAT Team, in executing these search warrants.  Our commitment to addressing community concerns remains unwavering, and we will continue working tirelesslyto ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in West New York.”

Diaz faces a slew of charges, including operating a manufacturing facility; possession with intent to distribute cocaine; and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school and 500 feet of a public property.  He also faces possession of an imitation firearm charges, receiving stolen property, as well as possession of cocaine, xanax, amphetamines, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia.

Herrera is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, while Perez, Reyes and Salazar were arrested on open warrants.

All of the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
