WNY Honors Those Who Made The Ultimate Sacrifice To Preserve Our Liberty & Freedom

On this Memorial Day, West New York Mayor Albio Sires, the Board of Commissioners, members of the town’s Police Department, veterans and community residents gathered at the war memorial monument at 54th Street and Boulevard East to honor those who have served, and are serving in the armed forces.

Led by Master of Ceremonies, Commissioner Adam Parkinson, the morning shed light on the importance of serving our nation.  Mayor Sires spoke of the commitment and dedication displayed by those veterans in attendance, and that, as Americans, we should never forget the sacrifices made by so many in past wars.

So, while you’re gathering with family, having those cookouts or going to the beach, remember, Memorial Day is much more than shopping at the mall and taking advantage of sales.  It’s a day of reflection and remembrance of those who died while serving in the U.S. military.
