Members of the West New York Police Department and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue participated in Saturday’s charity softball games to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The event was sponsored by the West New York Little League.
A portion of the $25 participants’ fee was donated to breast cancer research and awareness, with the remaining funds being used by the West New York for various needs, such as equipment, uniforms and general upkeep of the League.

Approximately one in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their life. That’s 13%, making it the most common form of cancer in American women.

Members of the Memorial High School baseball and softball teams were also invited to participate in Saturday’s charity event.
No word on how much money was raised for the cause.
