WNY Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Cliffside Park

49-year old Ernesto Lara-Rojo of West New York has been arrested for attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges according tp Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.  The arrest is a result of an incident which took place in Cliffside Park. and is part of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cliffside Park Police Department.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 4:58 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, the Cliffside Park Police Department responded to a report of a domestic violence incident involving serious bodily injury.  A joint investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cliffside Park Police Department revealed that Lara-Rojo cut a female victim’s throat with a razor blade.  The victim was transported to the Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen with life- threatening injuries.

Lara-Rojo has been charged with first-degree, attempted murder;  second-degree aggravated assault;  third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose;  and fourth-degree, unlawful possession of a weapon.  Lara-Rojo is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack today.

The accused is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
