For 50 years Yolanda’s Academy of Music and Dance has been a fixture in the West New York community. On Saturday, Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners honored its owner by renaming the corner of 62nd Street and Harrison Place Yolanda’s Dance Place.
Yolanda Fernandez-Quincoces began her career teaching music and dance out of her parents’ home. That quickly grew into her own, storefront location in West New York.

Fernandez-Quincoces spent 34 years as an educator in the Hudson County public school system, teaching music and dance at a gifted and talented magnet school. Additionally, she served as a liaison for educational programs at the New York City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall.
