WNY To Begin Phase 1 of Bergenline Ave. Revitalization Project

Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez and Board of Commissioners Begin Vital Bergenline Revitalization Project

Administration Focus on Economic Development to Bring Jobs to West New York

WEST NEW YORK, N.J. — Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez and the Board of Commissioners of the Town of West New York are proud to announce that Phase I of the Bergenline Avenue Revitalization Project, which will include sidewalk replacements from 56th Street to 49th Street on Bergenline Avenue, started earlier this week.

“After many months of planning, I am very proud to announce that this critical project is finally here,” discussed West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez. “A cornerstone of our economic development plan is to re-establish the vitality of our main economic district.”

The project begins on the east side of 56th Street and makes its way south along the east side to 49th. The project will then crossover and will make its way north starting at 49th and ending on 56th Street. This project will also repave the streets from 56th Street to 49th Street. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by the end of September 2020.

“My priority is ensuring that we invest in our “Miracle Mile”, which will revitalize our businesses, provide jobs to our residents, sustain the town’s walkability, and improve the quality of life for all our residents,” continued Mayor Rodriguez. “Our focus and our investments in the economic development of our town is crucial to the long-term sustainability and vitality of our community and the residents that call West New York home, and we are excited for the future of Bergenline Avenue.”

The Town is working diligently to minimize disturbances to residents and business owners. Due to the nature of the project, however; some temporary road closures and restricted sidewalk use is expected along Bergenline Avenue during the hours of 7:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 8:00AM-4:00PM until the completion of the project.

The Town has created a dedicated website to the project at www.westnewyorknj.org/pages/bergenline. The Town will continuously update the site to ensure our residents and businesses can keep up with the latest developments.
