Youngsters Celebrate Read Across America In Union City

It’s Read Across America Week in the United States, with youngsters learning the importance of books and why reading is key to a successful future.  Union City’s Washington School celebrated the occasion by inviting some special people to read from Dr. Seuss’ classic collection on Thursday morning.

Read Across America was first created in 1998 by the National Education Association.  It is celebrated each year on the birthday of children’s author, Dr. Seuss, March 2.

Among the people helping the kindergarten through third graders celebrate at the Washington School were former Union City Board of Education employees Joe Conklin and Liz McLaughlin.
