28 Years After Allegedly Sexually Assaulting A Young Girl, HCPO Arrests Union City Man

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Friday morning that 65-year old, Union City resident Rodrigo Rivera, was arrested yesterday by the HCPO Special Victims Unit on charges he sexually assaulted a young girl when she was between the ages of 6 and 8. The victim is now 28 years old and reported the assaults occurred inside a Jersey City residence.

Rivera has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, a crime of the first degree, and sexual assault, a crime of the second degree. Rivera was arrested in Hackensack at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Thursday and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a detention motion which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
