Sunday night’s tragic shooting death of 34-year old, Jersey City husband and father Christian Lee Parra in the parking lot of the BJ’s on Marin Boulevard and Second Street, has sparked an outpouring of love and community support for the deceased victim’s family.

The father of three, young children was found with a gunshot wound to his Torso around 8:20 Sunday night, according to information provided by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.  He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, but died of his injury at approximately 9 o’clock.  Suarez says the case is actively being investigated by both the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Jersey City Police Department, and as of this morning, it is not known if a suspect is in custody.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page created by Parra’s brother Eric Maldonado has raised more than $19,000 as of this morning.  Maldonado wrote, “The pain of losing a loved one is something I think everyone can relate to but the loss of my brother is devastating to me and my family. My brother was a well regarded soul and considered one of the nicest individuals anyone would ever want to meet. He was an enabler, someone who was able to motivate you, into moving forward in your life and obtaining personal growth. He was a gem that shined so brightly in my life, in my world. He was a sneaker collector and a family man. Two things he cherished deeply.”

Maldonado continued by saying, “We ask that you find it in your heart to help my family through these unknown and difficult times. Christian leaves behind 3 beautiful children; his daughters Lena, Ava and his son Sir. They will grow up without a father, his wife without a husband, a mother and father without their son and a brother without his best friend. We do this request for the kids and his wife so they can have a chance at life. We ask that you all remember Chris as I will for the delightful person he was, and the unforgettable memories he gave to us all.”

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office asks anyone with information on Sunday night’s fatal shooting to contact them at 201-915-1345 or leave an anonymous tip.
