Hudson TV has learned that a 60-year old Kearny man has been arrested for allegedly committing attempted sexual assault against his two granddaughters in February of 2014. The defendant is facing eight criminal counts and was recently arrested.
On November 4, 2020, as Hudson TV has learned, the Kearny Police contacted the Special Victims Unit in regard to two, alleged sexual assaults. One of the female victims reported to authorities that the defendant sexually assaulted her when she was age 10 and again when she was age 13. The other girl was 9 and 11 years old when the alleged sexual assaults occurred.
The victims told authorities the defendant attempted to have sexual intercourse with them, but he also fondled them when they were clothed and when they were naked. According to documents, the defendant watched pornographic movies with the two young girls on various occasions. At numerous times, the defendant was naked in the presence of the children.
On March 3, 2021, detectives made contact with the defendant. he was told that numerous allegations had been made against him and he was asked if he wanted to provide law enforcement authorities with a statement. He agreed to do so and he was transported to SVU, where he was Mirandized and then decided to invoke his rights.
He was then placed under arrest.
The various charges against the defendant included attempted sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. All of the charges are second and third degree crimes.
