JMSA Students Take Home Medals During American Chemical Society’s Annual Research Poster Competition

Terrific news announced by the Union City Board of Education concerning 19 Jose Marti STEM Academy students who were selected to participate in the New York Section of the American Chemical Society’s Annual Research Posters Competition that took place at St Joseph University on Saturday, February 21st.
                                                                                                                              The  students presented alongside students from schools in New York and New Jersey having strong research programs.  The JMSA students won the following awards:
Gold Medal: Carolyn Eloy, a senior who will be attending Notre Dame University on a full scholarship.
Silver Medal: Lehansa Marambage, Jamsha Concepcion and Eldana Teklu.
Bronze Medal: Dominique Valencia, Camila Medrano, Johan Claros, Yohan Gil and Angelo Palotto
Congratulations are extended to the students’ mentors: Dr. Armani, Ms. Donnelly, Ms. Hidaldo, Ms. Rosales and Dr. Mary Michael.  The Board of Education stated,  “The hard work they put in preparing our students for competitions does not go unnoticed.  Thank you to Ms. Dorsey and Ms. Hidalgo for accompanying the students to the competition. Very special thanks to Mr. Baez for all his support for our programs. Congratulations to Dr. Nadia Makar, our STEM Supervisor, whose vision guides this program to success every year.”
