Hoboken has announced registration for summer arts programs for city youth will open on March 6th. Organized by the Division of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Dance with Derrick, the programs aim to provide enriching and creative outlets for Hoboken youth between the ages 5 to 14 and paid leadership opportunities for teens between the ages of 15 and 18.
The programming offers weekly workshops that include dance, theater, photography, art, fashion, and more.
The classes will be offered in addition to the long-running Art in the Park program for toddlers. They are scheduled in collaboration with the Hoboken Recreation program allowing Hoboken youth to attend Recreation sports in the morning and arts classes in the afternoon.
“Summer should be a time for young people to discover new passions, express themselves, and feel connected to their community,” said Mayor Emily B. Jabbour. “These arts programs give Hoboken kids the chance to learn from professional artists, build confidence, and explore their creativity, while also providing meaningful leadership opportunities for our teens. We’re proud to offer programming that is accessible, inclusive, and designed to meet families where they are.”
Classes will be held in the Damon Murray Community Gym and the ResilienCity Park Community Room Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will be held for five sessions:

Session 5: July 27 – July 31
Residents are welcome to sign up for one week or several, depending on their interests and availability. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Workshops are offered free of charge to families that qualify for free and reduced lunch, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent young people from participating.
The paid Teen Leaders-in-Training Program, now in its second year, will once again provide Hoboken youth between the ages of 15 and 18 leadership skills while they assist professional artists with the summer arts classes.
Applicants must have an interest in the arts, in mentoring younger students, and go through an interview process. Space is limited. A full description and qualifications can be found at hoboken.recdesk.com
Registration for Art in Park, the summer arts programs, and the Teen Leaders-In-Training Program opens on Friday, March 6, at 6 p.m. The deadline to apply to the Teen-Leaders-in-Training Program is Friday, April 17, at 6 p.m.
