79-Year Old Man Seriously Injured In Saturday’s Jersey City Fire

The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are investigating a fire that occurred in Jersey City on Saturday, November 22, 2025 which seriously injured a 79-year old man.

According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, just after 1 a.m., the Jersey City Fire Department was notified of a fire at 241 Baldwin Avenue.   When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and fire in the basement of the residential structure.  During fire suppression activities, firefighters found an unconscious, male victim with serious bodily injuries.  He was taken by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center. The victim, a resident of Jersey City, was subsequently transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

Prosecutor Mello says the cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department, although foul play is not suspected at this time.
