UCBOE Tops 3-Million Free Meals To Union City Students

DISTRICT TOPS 3 MILLION FREE MEALS DISTRIBUTED TO UNION CITY FAMILIES

The Union City School District recently distributed its 3 millionth free meal to students to take home, and it will continue to distribute breakfast and lunch 5 days a week until schools reopen.

Since the UCBOE was forced to close schools for in-person learning last March when the pandemic began, it has continued to serve meals to all students. Last October the district reached the 2 million mark in meal distribution.

Mayor and State Senator Brian Stack thanked everyone involved, including the district’s food services provider – Chartwells – and its dedicated employees for their tireless efforts to help combat food insecurity in the community.

“The effects of the COVID virus have severely impacted our community, but this shows our resilience in the face of so much adversity,” said Stack. “On behalf of the entire community, we are all grateful for what you have done, and continue to do. You have made an incredible impact on the lives of thousands of families, and you have the heart-felt thanks of everyone in Union City.”
