Late this afternoon at Policeman’s Park in North Bergen, North Bergen C.A.R.E.S. and Mayor Nicholas Sacco presented a free, food giveaway thanks to local restaurants. The event was a grab ‘n go pickup between 5 and 7 pm at the park, located at Union Turnpike and Grand Avenue. This is the second cycle for the state program in North Bergen this year, the first being last summer.
The program is weekly. This cycle began in September and will end in January.
Packaged, fresh hot meals were donated by some local establishments in Englewood. Only North Bergen residents were able to receive the free meals. Identification was required.
