Due to the increasing, record-breaking number of new, positive COVID cases in New Jersey, a no visitor policy has been instituted at all, RWJ Barnabas hospitals and healthcare facilities across the state. Here in Hudson County, the policy, which begins today, Sunday, December 26, includes the Jersey City Medical Center.
There are several exceptions to the no visitor policy. These include:
- Pediatric units will only permit one parent or guardian
- Maternity and Labor & Delivery units will only allow one significant other or support person
- Neonatal Intensive Care Units will allow two parents or support persons
- For pediatric psychiatric patients, only one visitor will be allowed, if and when an agreement between the facility and the parents or guardian has been reached
- Patients who have disabilities, where the disability is potentially due to altered mental status, intellectual or cognitive disability, communication barriers or behavioral concerns, only one designated support person is allowed to remain with the patient
- No visitors 18 years of age and under will be permitted
Extenuating circumstances will be considered for visitors of patients on hospice, near the end of life, those in critical condition or those having surgery.
Anyone who is permitted admittance to the Jersey City Medical Center must wear a mask.
