The Harrison Water Department advises residents that all fire hydrants will be flushed over night tonight beginning at 9 pm.  The process will conclude at 1 am on Thursday morning, February 17.

According to a statement issued by the town, “Flushing removes harmless minerals from that collect in the water mains.  The project is part of the Town routine maintenance program to assure high quality water.  It is also necessary for fire protection because flushing ensures that the hydrants are working properly.”

During the flushing process, Harrison residents may experience low water pressure or discolored water.  While the water is safe to drink, customers may prefer to wait until it runs clear before consuming it or washing clothes or dishes with it.
