Bayonne Police Arrest Allentown, PA Man For Stealing Packages From Residents' Porches

Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports that 53-year old, Damian L. Baker of Allentown, Pennsylvania was arrested yesterday for stealing packages from the porches of several homes in the city.

Amato says Baker was taken into custody at 6:57 Wednesday night from the area of East 33rd Street.  Officers responded to the area of 33rd Street and Avenue E after a witness reported that he just observed a male remove packages from the porches of several homes in the area.

As units responded, the caller’s description of the actor was broadcast to all responding units.  As police officers arrived, they located a male, later identified as Baker, throwing parcels behind a tree in the area.  As they conducted an on-scene investigation, they were able to retrieve 3 parcels from behind the tree and other packages from a nearby trash receptacle that the witness reported seeing Baker stash packages in.

Baker has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

All the packages belonged to residents of nearby addresses.
