Desperate Search Intensifies for Young Girl Abducted from North Bergen Residence

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, North Bergen has been gripped by shock and anguish as authorities tirelessly search for a young girl who was forcefully taken from her grandmother’s home. The town finds itself in the midst of a desperate search, hoping for the safe return of the missing child.

The incident unfolded on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit neighborhood. Authorities have identified the victim as a bright and innocent young girl, who was taken by her noncustodial parent according to the West Deptford Police Department.  Police officials say the mother of Athena Worthy-Miles has disconnected her phone from all communication.

Police say Athena’s biological mother, Diasia Serrano-Worthy, picked the child up from her grandmother’s home on 74th Street in North Bergen at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Local residents have shown an outpouring of support, joining forces with law enforcement officials to canvass the neighborhood, distribute flyers, and raise awareness about the abduction. The community’s solidarity and determination to bring the young girl back safely have been both inspiring and heartening during this harrowing time.

According to West Deptford Police, Serrano-Worthy has no known address, however, she is known to frequent Bergen County and New York City, specifically Brooklyn.  As per orders of the court, Serrano-Worthy does not have custody of the little girl.
