Whenever there’s a water main break it’s annoying. When it happens at one of, if not, a municipality’s busiest vehicular intersection during the morning rush hour, well, it’s even more of a pain.
Good morning West New York. You have a massive water main break at the intersection of Bergenloine Avenue and 60th Street this morning, a block from Town Hall.
A Veolia crew has been on the scene since shortly before 6 am working on a 12 inch main. Local roads are closed. Police say the following streets are closed to vehicular traffic:
1. 59th Street to 61st Street on Bergenline Avenue (north and south)
2. 60th Street and Van Buren Place(eastbound traffic diverted)
3. 60th Street and Palisade Avenue (westbound traffic diverted)
Please be advised that there is limited foot traffic in the area as well. Plan your commute accordingly. Expect delays if driving into the area.
Veolia says the immediate area may be without water service or have low pressure until repairs can be completed – expected later today.
