New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez is facing a new set of legal challenges as he has been indicted on charges of acting as a foreign agent for Egypt. The indictment alleges that Menendez received financial contributions from Egyptian officials in an attempt to influence U.S. policy to favor Egypt.

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) was among the first to call for Menendez’s resignation. In a tweet, Fetterman stated, “Senator Menendez should not be a U.S. Senator. He should have been gone long ago. It is time for every one of my colleagues in the Senate to join me in expelling Senator Menendez. We cannot have an alleged foreign agent in the United States Senate.”
