Prosecutor Charges Three With Theft By Deception

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of three people on theft by deception charges.  According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Special Investigation Unit announced the arrests following an investigation.

The investigation determined that 38-year old Viral Patel and 33-year old Priyanka Patel, both of Jersey City, and 35-year old Ramsey resident Pratik Patel were each charged with one count of Theft By Deception, a second degree crime, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Theft, also a second degree crime.

The three defendants, according to the Prosecutor’s investigation, were determined to have been hired to perform contract work at a business owner’s three properties in March of this year.

The unnamed business owner received an invoice from Janvi Hotel Supply, LLC totaling $200,000.  According to Suarez, the bill was paid, but the three defendants never performed the work.
