Last Sears Store In NJ, At Newport Center In Jersey City, To Permanently Close

Once an iconic retail chain in the United States, Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy in 2018.  By 2020, its signature store in Hackensack shut its doors.  Now, as 2024 gets underway, the last remaining Sears in New Jersey, located in Jersey City at the Newport Center Mall, has informed workers and the public that it will be permanently closing, although no date has been announced.

The company made the announcement on its Facebook page on Friday.  There are signs announcing the closure at the store.  The end of an era for sure.
