According to Prosecutor Suarez, Mallard is tentatively scheduled to appear in court for his post indictment arraignment on Monday, February 12, 2024.

The series of events which led to the indictment unfolded as follows:  On Sunday, May 14, 2023, the Jersey City Police Department received a missing person report for a 32-year-old Lindenwold woman who was last seen in Jersey City on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

During the course of the investigation, Suarez says the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit – with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police – located the lifeless body of a female, later identified as Mendoza, age 32 of Lindenwold, off of Route 440 in Bayonne near the Jersey City border on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

New Jersey State Department of Corrections records show Mallard, who is in custody, had prior convictions for manslaughter, distributing drugs on school property, and possession of drugs dating back to 2006.  He was in prison for eleven years, between February 20, 2009, and June 7, 2020.
