Last week the Township of North Bergen hosted its annual, holiday toy giveaway for local children. Hundreds of families in need attended the event, which took place at the Recreation Center on Meadowview Avenue. In addition to toys, food was given out so families could prepare a holiday meal.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco stated, “This giveaway embodies the spirit of North Bergen—coming together as a community to ensure no family goes without during the holidays.”
The event was made possible through the efforts of NB C.A.R.E.S., which is led by Aimee Focaraccio, along with the Parks Department, the North Bergen Police Department, the Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation and dedicated volunteers.
“This event showcases what makes North Bergen so special: our commitment to supporting one another and spreading joy during the holiday season,” Focaraccio said.
The event was made successful through the generous donations from local organizations, businesses, and individuals. Toys were collected through various drives held at schools, township buildings, and local businesses, including Hudson Burgers and Beers, NoHu Property Group, HudHaus, Eye Contact Vision Center North Bergen, Frank’s Pizzeria in North Bergen, Ssavvy Designs clothing store, and Clean Green Laundromat.
