The Team Fulop gubernatorial campaign has announced its Legislative Assembly Candidates for the 31st District, which covers Bayonne, Kearny and a major portion of Jersey City for the upcoming, June Democratic Primary, as Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s list of supporters continues to grow.

Incumbent Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato of Jersey City and Bayonne Councilwoman Jacqueline Weimmer will run for State Assembly in the 31st District.  With this announcement, Team Fulop has now recruited more than 30 Democratic candidates running in districts throughout New Jersey.

In a press statement, Mayor Fulop said, “This campaign is driven by a commitment to real change for New Jersey.  We know that policies directly impact the people of New Jersey every day which is why we are running a policy-driven campaign. Barbara and Jackie bring the leadership, empathy, and relentless determination to transform people’s lives. It’s time for government to serve the people, not the political machine.”

Barbara McCann Stamato (LD-31) is a current Member of the New Jersey General Assembly for the 31st District.  She serves on legislative committees focused on Community Development and Women’s Affairs, Regulated Professions, and Transportation and Independent Authorities. A lifelong Jersey City resident, McCann Stamato is an elected member of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and Chairwoman of the Jersey City Democratic Committee.

Jacqueline Weimmer (LD-31), who was born and raised in Bayonne, currently serves as the city’s 2nd Ward Councilwoman and the Director of Trust and Estate Planning for Orange Bank and Trust.  She has dedicated her career to supporting individuals with disabilities, focusing on the Special Needs Trust administration. In her free time, Weimmer advocates for abused and neglected children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Alongside Team Fulop, Weimmer aims to bring positive change to New Jersey with her blend of expertise and empathy.

McCann Stamato and Weimmer join a growing roster of State Assembly candidates supporting Fulop’s vision for a stronger New Jersey in the 2025 Primary Election. Locally, additional candidates include Jersey City Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (LD-32) and North Bergen Assemblyman Julio Marenco (LD-33), who has decided not to seek re-election.

The Hudson County Democratic Organization is supporting incumbent Assemblyman William Sampson of Bayonne and Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker of Jersey City for the Assembly in the 31st District.
