Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced the arrest of 19-year old, North Bergen resident Andrew Bastida on charges of child sexual abuse material possession. Bastida was arrested on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Suarez says the specific counts against Bastida are Endangering the Welfare of a Child/Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material, a crime of the second degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
According to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, “In April 2024, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip that child sexual abuse material was being stored on an online server. During the course of the investigation, it was determined Bastida controlled the account and over 100 videos of child sexual abuse material were seized.”
The above charge against Bastida is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
