The 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps was celebrated on Saturday night by Union City High School’s Marine Corps JROTC with a gala ball.
Union City High School has the only Marine Corps JROTC program in Hudson County. Saturday’s event highlighted the traditions of the United States Marine Corps, including the ceremonial cake cutting and marching drills.

Union City Education Association President Juana Dominguez was the guest of honor. She was presented with a plaque for her dedication to the JROTC and Young Marine Corps programs, which were started 26 and 5 years ago, respectively.
A plaque was also presented to parent Norys Chavez for her commitment and dedication to the Marine Corps programs.
The gala ball featured color guard and sword drills by the JROTC cadets.
