The Union City Board of Commissioners have delayed the adoption of a revised ordinance prohibiting retail pet stores from selling dogs and cats. The new law will now go into effect on May 1, 2026.
Hudson TV spoke with Mayor Brian Stack about the ordinance and why its adoption has been delayed.
The city originally passed the ordinance back in September 2025. Union City only has a few pet stores which sell pet supplies and smaller animals, such as fish and birds.
