HUDSON COUNTY, N.J. — Hudson County Commissioner Robert P. Baselice announced Monday that he has filed nominating petitions for re-election to represent District 8 on the Hudson County Board of Commissioners, continuing his push to improve quality of life for residents in North Bergen, Secaucus and across the county.
Baselice, first elected to the board in 2023, received endorsements this past weekend from the Hudson County Democratic Organization and leaders throughout the county. He also maintains the full support of North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, who originally endorsed him for the position three years ago and spoke at his re-election campaign fundraiser in January.
“I am running for re-election because I care deeply about the people I represent and the communities we call home,” Baselice said. “Over the past three years, I have worked to deliver real results, from improving our parks and infrastructure to supporting families, seniors and veterans. I’m grateful for the support of Democratic leaders throughout Hudson County, and I’m excited to be running alongside several new candidates who will bring valuable perspectives to the Board of Commissioners.”
During his first term, Baselice said he helped secure millions of dollars in funding for projects in District 8 and countywide. Highlights include upgrades to James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park — featuring new recreational amenities, safety improvements and future plans for a nature trail and waterpark upgrades — as well as a multi-million-dollar roadway improvement project along Paterson Plank Road and planned accessibility enhancements in Secaucus.
Baselice also worked with local organizations to address food insecurity, housing, and services for seniors, families and veterans. He has been a vocal advocate for immigrant communities amid federal immigration enforcement actions, supporting a ban on ICE operations on county property, urging passage of state legislation to strengthen immigrant protections and working with local advocates to inform residents of their rights.
Mayor Sacco praised the commissioner’s record ahead of the June election. “Commissioner Baselice has done an outstanding job delivering real results for our residents,” Sacco said. “From securing funding for important projects to improving our parks, roads, and quality of life, Bob has been a strong partner and an effective advocate for North Bergen. I fully support his re-election and I’m gratified to see that the Hudson County Democratic Organization is supporting our choice for County Commissioner.”
