Union City celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican flag raising ceremony on Tuesday, while honoring the city’s Mexican-American of the Year.
The event was held at 12-noon at International Plaza across the street from City Hall. City fire inspector, Giovanni Cruz-Baez, a graduate of Union City High School who is studying to become a firefighter, received a proclamation from the Board of Commissioners and Mayor Brian Stack, as Union City’s Mexican-American of the Year.
Congratulations to Giovanni and to all of the city’s Mexican-Americans for adding to the city’s cultural diversity and pride.
