Man Sentenced To 22 Years In Jail For Role In Jersey City Armed Robberies

Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello says that on Friday, June 5, 2026, the Honorable Angelo Servidio sentenced a 33-year-old man to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in multiple armed robberies that occurred in Jersey City in 2022.

Naji Thomas, of Jersey City, was convicted at trial on March 2, 2026, of four counts of first-degree Armed Robbery, four counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and four counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The defendant was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 11 years in prison, subject to the No Early Release Act. The State was represented in this matter by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutors Max Bosco and Priya Angara.

The robberies occurred on February 18, 2022, February 25, 2022, March 3, 2022, and March 17, 2022, in Jersey City. In each incident, the defendant entered a storefront armed with a handgun demanding money from employees. The defendant also stole cellphones during three of the robberies.
