Colombian independence was celebrated with a flag raising ceremony on Friday afternoon in Union City’s International Plaza.
Approximately 20 Colombian immigrants attended the celebration, which featured Colombia’s Consul for New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Union City Commissioner Wendy Grullon presented Board of Education Trustee Maria Hurtado Urrea with a proclamation from Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners.
Urrea spent 28 years in the banking industry and then 6 more working in the payroll department at City Hall in Union City.
