Ashe Nadrowski Releases Plan for Solutions to “Affordability” Issues in Bayonne

As part of her latest installment of the Nadrowski Campaign’s “Solution Sunday” platform series, Mayoral Candidate Sharon Ashe Nadrowski released her team’s plans to address “Affordability” issues in Bayonne.

“I’m proud to continue my ‘Solution Sunday’ roll-out, informing residents of what my administration will do to address many of the issues we face in Bayonne today,” said Ashe Nadrowski. “The response I’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The following is the “Affordability” installment released on Sunday, April 10th:

“There’s always a lot of talk about keeping Bayonne affordable. Sometimes this conversation gets a negative connotation, but it really shouldn’t. The truth is we want people to live, grow, and thrive in Bayonne. We want to keep our family, friends, and loved ones close to our hearts, and even closer to our doorsteps. The only way we get there is by making responsible choices and decisions. Here are a few of my ideas and plans for keeping Bayonne affordable:

During negotiations of all types, there needs to be a voice in the room that puts Bayonne’s needs first. Under a Nadrowski administration that means a lot of things. More than anything, it means setting the tone that Bayonne won’t settle for less than it deserves. Not for less money, not less resources, not less quality, and not less time. Committing to this attitude keeps all conversations accountable to Bayonne taxpayers, it keeps services efficient, and it ultimately keeps our City an affordable place to live.

Teachers. Firefighters. Police Officers. Veterans. Along with our City workers, these are the core of our city’s operations. If you’re reading this, I’m sure you know at least one of these individuals – maybe a relative, maybe a friend, and probably someone who grew up in Bayonne. Under a Nadrowski administration we will prioritize exploring reasonable housing options for these workers with a large focus on those just starting out – the “rookies” with the lowest salaries. This keeps them in the community they serve, and reminds them that we have their back while they are working hard to have ours. Through redevelopment discussions and federal funding sources, we can look to integrate this type of housing with new development projects. In the end, the goal is to keep realistic housing options open to those in public service so that they can continue to grow in and with our community.

Small businesses are the backbone of our local economic engine, and they need our help! Affordability isn’t just about individuals, sometimes it’s about a business climate. The last several years have been rough on Bayonne’s small business community and, quite frankly, the city hasn’t done enough to help. Under a Nadrowski administration we’ll establish an office of small business support and advocacy. This office will be charged with providing outreach and assistance to our local small business community. Between grant applications, permit applications, and regulatory compliance – everything takes time, and time is money. The city should be a helping partner. My goal would be to save our small businesses some time, by extending an open hand of support..”

Every Sunday from now, until Election Day on May 10th, the Nadrowski Campaign is going to release concrete solutions to the problems facing Bayonne via Facebook. Previous installments of the Nadrowski campaign’s “Solution Sunday” series are as follows:
