Bayonne Announces Holiday Closing Schedule

CITY OF BAYONNE HOLIDAY CLOSING SUMMARY FOR DECEMBER 24, 25, 31, AND JANUARY 1

Civilian offices at City Hall:  Closed Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.

Garbage and Recycling: Regular garbage and recycling pick-ups will take place on Thursday, December 24 from 1st Street to 30th Street.  No garbage pick-ups or recycling pick-ups will take place on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25.  There will be a special citywide garbage pick-up on Saturday, December 26.

Due to the start of new garbage and recycling contracts, there will be no garbage or recycling pick-ups on Friday, January 1.  The new contracts will do pick-ups by zone.

Under the new schedule, Zone 3’s first garbage pick-ups will take place on Saturday, January 2, from 30th Street to 63rd Street, including Broadway, Country Village, and all other thoroughfares between 30th and 31st Streets.   

Zone 1’s first garbage pick-ups will take place on Monday, January 4, from 1st Street to 16th Street.

Zone 2’s first garbage pick-ups will take place on Tuesday, January 5, from 16th Street to 30th Street.

Street-sweeping and alternate side parking: Suspended Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.  Note:  Street-sweeping and alternate side parking are often suspended in winter anyway, due to snow and ice on the streets.

  Parking permit zone enforcement: Suspended on Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.

On-street parking meters: Enforcement suspended on Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1. On-street parking meters will be enforced the other days of the week that they are normally in effect, unless snow and ice make it impractical.

Free parking for four hours in Parking Utility lots: Will be in effect for non-commercial vehicles for the month of December.  Total enforcement of pay stations at Parking Utility lots for non-commercial vehicles will resume on Monday, January 4.  Pay station enforcement will be suspended completely for all vehicles on December 24, 25, and 31, and on January 1.

Bayonne Public Library: Closed Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.  The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
