Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest of a 66-year-old Bayonne man, Rey Rosario, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Jersey City on February 10, 2023. The arrest, made by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, brings a new turn in the case that left a 39-year-old Jersey City woman seriously injured.

The incident, which took place at approximately 7:45 p.m. near Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard, had initially left the authorities with few leads. The victim, struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center with multiple serious injuries.

Rosario faces charges of Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Endangering an Injured Victim, both third-degree crimes under New Jersey law. He was apprehended on Monmouth Street in Jersey City and subsequently released pending his first court appearance.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to address hit-and-run incidents, which pose a significant threat to public safety. The charges against Rosario are accusations at this stage, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, in line with the principles of the American justice system.
